LOGO SOUND & MAIN THEME

Working from a general stylistic brief from Narō's CEO, some of the earliest works I created for Narō were sound and music for the brand logo and program opening animations.

For the brand logo animation, I aimed to incorporate sounds related to Japan but without being too obvious. I used a field recording of a chorus of Japanese cicada in my neighborhood paired with warm layered tones from a Korg MS-20 analog synth, a classic design created in 70s Japan. The sounds of the pencil stroke and letters flipping in are made from foley recordings of simple stationary items.

For the program opening theme, I created a base piece of music with several alternatively styled endings, along with variations of subject-related foley and outtakes from the courses, for a variety to best fit the range of subjects covered by Narō's programs.

Both the Narō logo and program opening theme animations were finalized and passed to me without audio, so the sounds and music were rhythmically composed to the timings of these animations rather than vice versa.
